Three Steps to the Path of Self-Love: With Tarot Mucha Review

Being true to yourself leaves one vulnerable, yet requires resilient armor, a sharp sword, and fearless discipline.

You must lead yourself.

The Four Queens recognizes the importance of showing up for and celebrating oneself in one of her always delightful, loving, and honest Tea & Tarot videos: The Path of Self-Love

The Wheel of Fortune, The Queen of Swords, and The Star from the Waite-Smith Tarot are good personal reminders of self-love and personal success.

Three essential steps to self-love

1. Understand your goals and values, and support them

It is imperative that you grasp your vital end-game result, or you’ll be floating around and years down the road, you’ll wonder why you aren’t in a happier spot, why you aren’t as full of curiosity and life as you thought you were a decade or so earlier.

As long as you can buy the essentials every month, make sound financial decisions for your future, and have a sense of satisfaction, what else do you need?

Are you comparing yourself too much to others?

What does that mean, and how does that fit into your values — what’s the point in giving energy away?

Perhaps others can support you.

Further, you must support yourself, and the video linked here and above encourages making visual declarations of self-love, an exercise I’ve begun at this Pinterest board.

2. Plan your path of self-love

What are you going to build and leave standing as your legacy?

What will/do you let others say about you?

How is this any different from what you say about yourself?

Exercise:

  1. Write 3 broad dreams! Dream big, and plan where you see yourself in five years, and/or ten years.
  2. Break each broad dream into 3 achievable goals, and give yourself a deadline for each.
  3. Check in a week later. Two weeks later. A month later. How did you do?

3. Revise your plan

Life = curveballs, setbacks, emergencies, errors, entrenched (and poor) habits … It takes extra effort, sometimes, for even the simplest goal to come through!

Never throw away the first (or sixteenth!) blueprint simply because there’s a flaw in it …

The Three of Pentacles in the Waite-Smith Tarot captures a sense of teamwork. By revising your goals, you are recognizing not only what works -- but what doesn't work -- in your blueprint. Priceless!

Reshape that blueprint!

Harness the heinous. Implement the impossible. Step into self-love.

This means you must show up! Without showing up, we rob ourselves of the investment that we can make in ourselves. Theresa Reed, The Tarot Lady, has more to say about keeping on with one’s ambitions (particularly when it comes to writing) in her blog.

Self-love and tarot reviews

I’ve just published my second of two tarot reviews. It is a review of the Tarot Mucha for Spiral Nature, after I reviewed the Wickwillow Tarot for Aeclectic.net.

It’s been an honor to see my byline on a tarot deck review or two. It’d be lovely to continue producing them, but it’s also time to follow these three steps for self-love, and determine how well the act continues to resonate with my grand scheme.
